AWWA Standard for Installation of Ductile Iron Water Main and their Appurtenances C600-99
This standard covers basic installation of ductile-iron water mains and related parts. It does not apply to unusual or difficult conditions, such as pipes in hazardous ground, industrial or plant systems, insulated lines, or special support situations. Those cases require separate engineering design. The revision adds larger pipe sizes and new guidance on pipe handling, corrosion protection, transition fittings, hydrant installation, contamination prevention, underwater crossings, and service taps through polyethylene wrap. It also removes contract role definitions and adds guidance on project-specific information needed to use the standard.
